The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of programs and projects through a disciplined IT project management process in close collaboration with business partners, team members and various IT functions. This individual will assume end-to-end accountability for single or multiple concurrent projects and large programs. The Project Manager will provide input to the Governance Team and will coordinate, create and maintain interlocking schedules for projects, track interdependencies, maintain and present status of programs, track and address risks/issues at the program level, among other duties. In addition to project management duties the Project Manager will provide process leadership and support to other Project Managers in structuring projects, consult on the use of project management tools and will lead process improvement initiatives. The Project Manager role will also serve as a mentor to project managers.


Responsabilities and Duties:

     Provide leadership to project resources, foster a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations.

     Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives that adhere to organizational objectives

     Develop & maintain program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement

     Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the program when necessary. Understand appropriate paths and methods and timing for escalation.

     Develop the project & program visions and mission statement and be adept at selling the program vision and benefits to the various stakeholders

     Manage budget and funding channels for maximum productivity

     Manage programs and/or multiple concurrent projects which are not necessarily related or interdependent.

     Ensure dashboarding is up to date, host and present status at Governance Team meetings.

     Plan and manage out-sourced projects with large components completed by 3rd party vendors.

     Be a resource to other project managers and Business Relationship Managers (BRMs) in developing upfront estimates of time and resource utilization through organized discovery Provide leadership to project resources, foster a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations.

     Assist organizational change management (OCM) in defining the changes to business processes and procedures that will result from the program. Incorporate business process change estimates and contingencies into the overall plan.

     Manage the project or program budget process and coordinate with stakeholders, managers, project managers and vendors to ensure project resources are applied efficiently and effectively.

     Be proactive and exercise initiative in identifying, tracking, and removing impediments to project success. Approach risk identification and mitigation accordingly, including establishing contingency plans and initiating corrective action.

Understand how individual projects affect the program/portfolio and exercise judgement in raising issues and risks to the program/portfolio level.


Education level

     Four-year college degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field

 

Experience

     At least 5 years of experience managing IT projects, including end-to-end experience for medium-to-large projects and programs

     3+ years of proven experience managing project teams

     Success in managing multiple, large IT projects simultaneously

     Proven experience in all domains of project management including working in an Agile project environment

     Experience monitoring and managing vendor performance

     Experience managing requirement solution workshops

     Previous stakeholder management roles

     Experience organizing Organizational Change Management (OCM) initiatives

     Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills

 

Specific skills

     Deep understanding of and ability to manage Project and Software Development Life Cycle(s) using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies

     Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, analytical and organizational skills

     Outstanding working knowledge of change management principles and performance evaluation processes

     Excellent communication and presentation skills

     Working knowledge of SalesForce CRM, SAP and ServiceNow

     Advanced competency in Microsoft Visio or other process mapping software such as as PowerPoint.

     Proven business case development & presentation skills

     Comfortable exercising judgment and using analytical skills in ambiguous situations

     Broad understanding of IT infrastructure and technology

     Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactive in seeking out information when necessary

     Above average organizational, interpersonal & communication skills

     Skilled in negotiating and problem-solving with both internal & external stakeholders

 

Certifications

     Project Management Professional (PMP)

     Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMI-ACP certification
