This position is a  hybrid  position to work from Mexico for US clients. You will be working as a consultant directly with US Clients. Monday and Fridays are remote from home; Tuesday, Wednesday, & and Thursday are on-site at client location in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Title: Senior Unix Systems Administrator – Scripting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Unix Systems Administrator with a strong focus on scripting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing Unix systems and automating processes using PowerBash, Shell, and other scripting languages.


Key Responsibilities:

System Administration:

  • Manage and maintain Unix/Linux servers, including installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize resource usage.
  • Ensure system reliability, availability, and security.

Scripting & Automation:

  • Develop and maintain scripts (using Bash, Shell, Python etc.) to automate routine tasks and processes.
  • Implement configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) for automated deployment.

Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve system issues, providing timely support to users and other IT staff.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Prepare reports on system performance, uptime, and incidents.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with development and operations teams to support applications and services.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Unix/Linux Administrator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems (e.g., Solaris, Red Hat).
  • Proficient in scripting languages (Bash, Shell, Python,) for automation tasks.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., newrelic and catchpoint) and performance tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with Monitoring tools like New Relic or Catchpoint
