Senior Storage Engineer, Thomson Reuters

Are you an experienced storage administrator with a passion for optimizing and managing cutting-edge storage solutions? Join Thomson Reuters as we seek to enhance our technological landscape with a dedicated Senior Storage Engineer. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring our storage systems are seamlessly integrated with VMware environments, providing top-notch performance and reliability.

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Senior Storage Engineer, you will:

  • Deploy and manage Pure Storage arrays, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Integrate and optimize Pure Storage with VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi), manage and troubleshoot issues.
  • Conduct performance tuning, analyze metrics, and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Provide L3 support, resolve complex storage issues, and liaise with support teams.
  • Maintain documentation, recommend enhancements, and stay updated on tech developments.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness, including data replication and migration activities.
  • Automate routine storage and backup systems operations.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, and upgrades.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Senior Storage Engineer if your background includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
  • 5+ years in storage administration with a focus on Storage.
  • Extensive VMware experience (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi).
  • Pure Storage and VMware certifications preferred.
  • Solid background in vSAN and software-defined storage.
  • Deep knowledge of Pure Storage and VMware technologies.
  • Expertise in VMFS, vVol, NFS datastores, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong knowledge of vSphere Client Plugin and Pure1 VM Analytics.
  • Familiarity with Storage Policy Based Management (SPBM).
  • Proficiency in storage networking protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in Linux Shell, PowerShell, or other scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with automation and scripting for VMware tasks.

Desired Experience:

  • Extensive experience in Pure Storage and EMC solutions.
  • Proficient in DAS, SAN, and NAS configuration and administration.
  • Experience with Dell PowerMax/Vmax/Unity and CyberArk systems.
  • Knowledge of storage infrastructure maintenance and risk remediation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for both NAS and SAN environments.
  • Experience with implementation, configuration, and migration techniques.

Business Requirements:

  • Work closely with internal customers to understand needs, the technological landscape, and changing requirements.
  • Develop a solid understanding of Thomson Reuters product lines and supported technologies.
  • Understand internal business processes and how they affect the corporation.
  • Understand the strategic vision at the project level and help form and implement the project strategy.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
