Manager Commercial Policy and System Ops

The Manager Commercial Policy and System Ops is responsible for guiding global commercial policy creation and ensuring consistency in commercial strategies and standards for packaging and pricing across the company. This role involves crafting enterprise-wide policies by reviewing, writing, incorporating extensive stakeholder input, and obtaining executive sign-off. Policies are aimed at enhancing commercial outcomes and performance. Other responsibilities include managing the rollout, communication, and maintenance of approved commercial policies, as well as overseeing a centralized repository. The successful candidate will create guidelines and procedures that support strategic revenue growth in packaging and pricing, leveraging Thomson Reuters’ system infrastructure to enhance the customer experience and streamline business operations. 

The position involves partnering with many areas of the company including corporate compliance, legal counsel, segment partners, product teams, marketing, sales, and finance. The ideal candidate must quickly adapt to change and manage shifting schedules, priorities, and outcomes in a dynamic environment. Strong commercial thought leadership, the ability to form partnerships, and strong skills in influencing and networking across widespread teams are essential. This role is part of the Commercial Excellence organization and reports to the Senior Manager of Commercial Policy and System Operations.

About the Role   

In this opportunity as a Manager Commercial Policy and System Ops, you will:

  • Develop new commercial policies and amend existing policies based on evolving market needs
    • Includes gathering stakeholder feedback on proposed policies or policy amendments
    • Obtain executive approvals and manage the roll out of policies
  • Conduct periodic assessments of existing policies to maintain their relevance and effectiveness
  • Manage Commercial Policy repositories on internal sites
  • Review segment or region-specific policies to ensure alignment with Global TR policies
  • Partner with Commercial Systems team to ensure alignment of policies with current and future system capabilities
  • Define and execute commercial implementation, packaging, and pricing models and strategies for the enterprise, supporting strategic imperatives and alignment with global design framework with a simplification and standardization mindset
  • Independently manage across all levels of the organization to influence and increase alignment between workstreams and the business, while navigating uncertainty and change

About You

You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:

  • BA/BS degree required; advanced degree highly desirable
  • 5-8+ years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of commercial constructs, pricing methodologies, and packaging best practices
  • Effective project management skills related to planning and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously from the initial ideation through to completion, adhering to specified timelines and budget
  • Ability to lead and participate on results-oriented global virtual teams – requiring strong interpersonal skills and team player mindset, partnering with others to develop solutions
  • Ability to deploy influencing techniques to drive cross-functional alignment and manage change across broad audience
  • Strong communication and exceptional stakeholder management capabilities
  • Ability to work independently in an environment of change, with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of the Thomson Reuters products and customer landscape a plus
