Director, Business Services Sourcing

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Director, Business Services Sourcing , you will:

  • Develop a value proposition for the Business Services Sourcing team through strategizing approaches to address tail spend more holistically and engaging with the category teams supporting the strategic sourcing plans.
  • Lead the Business Services Sourcing team to execute day-to-day operations, including supervision, management and optimization of all activities.
  • Participate in the leadership and development of the Global Business Services Sourcing function. Provide expert counsel and support to business and other stakeholders. Develop and implement sourcing strategies, which delivers sustainable reductions in Thomson Reuters cost base and significant improvements in the quality of services being delivered by our suppliers.
  • Drive ongoing improvements in sourcing capability and maturity at Thomson Reuters by identification and development of key talents and by implementation of best-practice sourcing methodology and standards.
  • Develop saving pipelines containing the portfolio of key initiatives which deliver the Tail spend management strategy aimed at optimizing cost, improving user experience, driving transparency, contract compliance and increasing efficiencies.
  • Build and develop the Business Services Sourcing team, which can provide seamless support to the category teams and strategic sourcing plans. Provide expert commercial and market insight to business stakeholders in order help shape and optimize Thomson Reuters sourcing strategy. Implement the sourcing deals by identifying, qualifying, developing and negotiating strategic sourcing initiatives to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Help develop the annual project pipeline, such that Global Procurement contributes effectively to Thomson Reuters financial planning process.
  • Rationalize the supplier landscape and reduce fragmentation in the spend base in order to enhance strategic relationships and drive commercial efficiency. Implement a best-practice sourcing methodology and sourcing governance schema which provides greater visibility and control of strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Continuously improve the sourcing methodology and continuously develop the sourcing capability at Thomson Reuters in order to consistently achieve market-leading outcomes.
  • Build and enhance relationships with suppliers in partnership with the vendor and service delivery management teams in order to achieve exceptional levels of service quality whilst maintaining best-in-class commercial terms and conditions.
  • Drive and foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and entrepreneurialism within Procurement which is replicated by suppliers.
  • Develop team members and grow their careers across Global Procurement.

About You

You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Fluent English.
  • Leadership, Governance and Functional design
  • Significant experience in solutioning and implementing a Procurement Operations and Sourcing model that delivers sourcing and buying services to a global business.
  • Expert ability to identify, implement and manage digital solutions that support the company’s Digital Procurement vision.
  • Ability to ensure the effectiveness of the organization through establishing the organizational structure, digital tools, processes and governance.
  • Proven track record of delivering significant and sustainable cost reductions through effective implementation of versatile strategies focused on managing non-strategic / Tail spend.
  • Expert sourcing practitioner, with extensive experience in developing & executing sourcing strategies across different categories, sound negotiation skills and a demonstrated track record of working ethically to achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Expert analytics and ability to develop coherent and high-quality sourcing collateral including internal / external analysis of spend, business case, contract summaries, and RFx materials.
  • Significant experience of successful development and negotiation of sourcing agreements.
  • Sound knowledge of the sourcing marketplace and trends in the industry including the ability to assess the impact of change in the context of the sourcing strategy.
  • Strong experience in coaching and mentoring, helping to develop an Operational Sourcing team that has well-rounded knowledge of multiple Source to Pay capabilities and cross-category skills sets.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage resources; and to lead change across the organization to achieve organization-specific goals (only applicable for People Manager position)
  • Strong ability to drive high performance in Operation Sourcing organization by enabling effective collaboration with Category teams and bringing efficiencies in managing the spend holistically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, gravitas and credibility working with senior executives.
  • Excellent (external and internal) relationship management and cross-functional leadership skills
