Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA) – MS SQL to PostgreSQL Migration

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) proficient in MS SQL Server with expertise in database migrations to PostgreSQL . The ideal candidate will play a key role in our project to migrate several databases across multiple servers to a unified PostgreSQL environment. This is a fully remote position, and candidates must be based in Latin America and fluent in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Assess and analyze existing MS SQL Server databases to understand structure, relationships, and dependencies.
• Design and implement database migration strategies from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Develop, test, and execute migration scripts, tools, and processes.
• Optimize and refactor existing SQL queries and stored procedures for PostgreSQL.
• Monitor and resolve performance issues during and after the migration process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and project managers, to ensure successful migration and integration.
• Document database schemas, migration processes, and best practices for future reference.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for the PostgreSQL environment post-migration.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator with proficiency in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL .
• Hands-on experience in database migrations, specifically from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of database architecture, optimization, and best practices.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• Familiarity with tools for database migration, such as AWS DMS, Ora2Pg, or custom ETL solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud in database migration projects.
• Knowledge of performance tuning in PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Experience working with large-scale or mission-critical databases.
